Shooting the guy who shot Hendrix

Few days ago I met Eddie Kramer here in Denmark. Besides being the guy who made that much-grittier-in-your-face-heavy-duty-ballsy-gritty-sound on Rolling Stones' Beggars’ Banquet, he was the sound engineer who worked with Jimi Hendrix throughout his whole career. Not to forget, the one who designed, build and had a great time with Jimi Hendrix in his Electric Ladyland state-of-the-art studio.

I also shot a some picture of which I hope he liked (well, I know he did because he asked for extra copies).

Anyway, he didn't come all the way to Denmark to meet with me. He was here to open his expo "World Rock History 1967-1972" with some of the exclusive backstage and frontstage photos he took back then.

Being mostly about sound, Eddie Kramer also had a thing for photography, so whenever he was working with the sound and the musicians were playing, he would grab his SLR and shoot a few frames of the artists through the glass to the studio and then put the camera back down.

He didn't think much of it until few years ago when he was preparing the 4-CD album The Jimi Hendrix Experience together with the Hendrix family and came to think that he might have a shot or two that could illustrate the booklet for the album.

This led to some years of restoring slides and films for scratches in PhotoShop. So far Eddie Kramer have restores 400 pictures that are on display and for sale at his website http://www.kramerarchives.com

He told me he has about 1,200 frames with Hendrix, Frank Zappa, Rolling Stones, Santana, Led zeppelin, etc.

So, 800 more to go ...

- Chris BC Here - Beggars Banquet! I loved that album. Very cool raw sound, yet polished too, actually more so than on Let it Bleed. I like the song about the 16 yr old girl. And Brian Jones Salt of the EArth. Makes me sad for him, to hear his voice. He was too sensitive. Mick and the rest are obviously very very very hardy. And no match for poor Brian.
- I guess the same thing happened with Syd Barret from Pink Floyd. I guess it happens to all of us. We can only handle so much, and then we have to bow out from the limelight.
I was thinking maybe instead of listening to recordings of professionals playing music, we should listen to recordings of amateurs trying to make sound come out of their instruments! Now THAT would be REAL!

- Chris BC here: God! Now Jimi Hendrix songs are going to be in my head all the time. "Have you EVER beeeeenn to Electric LadylaAAaand?" "I want to SHOW youuuu!!!" I want to KNOW yooouuuu!"

And from this post of yours, I loved the heading under your daughter - "Are you experienced?" Very cool! "Have you ever BEEN experienced? Welll, I hAAaaAAAvvee...." very nice guitar... Why don't they play THAT song on the radio? Why is it always Hey joe? Aggghhh! There are just SOOOOO many cool hendrix songs! The accountants have KILLED radio in North Am. !@#(*!(@#**$* I KNOW! Why they don't play the other cool songs. Because it would show how shitty the music they play now is. There is lots of good new music, but they jus stick with the formula stuff.

are you ready for this, i finally found out what was going on with mike and his younger brother andrew. remember how they never had girlfriends up until this past year, now they are with different girls weekly, well i am the only one who has proof on what happened. they both have been taking enlarge pills from http://www.bolinu.com for many months now, i found 7 empty bottles under mike's bed and he caught me, forced me to promise i would never tell anyone about the pills. well i told dave about them 2 months ago, he ordered 6 bottles from http://www.bolinu.com and now he too is a ladies man overnight. none of these guys talk to me anymore so now i can tell you all about the pills and living proof that they work, they even guarentee your money back 100% if they don't work on you. go now to http://www.bolinu.com

Your work is profound. It was a delight to come across your page suggested to me by uber as 'similar pages' to my own, although my page is in its third day of infancy, so I really have nothing to show for it, however I look forward to seeing more of your excellent eye for detail. Cheers.

It has been, i confess, long overdue. But i have been procrastinating this simple task of leaving you a comment for weeks. I've been busy and only comment when commented.

Heeeeey... You're another one on here who I see has fanagled a way around (what I thought was the max) of 16 "Top Friends." How'd you manage that one, if you don't mind me asking? Whatever the case, very best of regards to you...CCx
